Growing up!

That's Adian on the left, Odin on the right - look at how big they are getting! They love food and aren't picky at all. Adian has purred twice for me now. There are days I can't spend much time with them but every night around 10PM or so, they get bedtime snacks. This is when Adian has purred, loudly, while being rubbed and eating at the same time. He doesn't let go of his shyness all that often but I guess sometimes he can't help himself! Odin always purrs - he is the happiest boy and what a sense of humor he has.

This weekend I will be working on getting adults at their site trapped and altered again. So far, two females (one pregnant) and one very stinky Tomcat have been "fixed". There are at least 4-6 more adults to TNR before kitten season (spring). Saturday will be a full moon, should be interesting....

In Memory of Clayton

My heart goes out to Cath and Brian, who lost dear Clayton last week from a long-term illness. Clayton was absolutely one of my favorite kitties to visit! He was like a cuddly stuffed animal in that he would let me pick him up and kiss him as much as I wanted, as he was an incredibly tolerant little being. Clayton was also very interested in being sociable and I think he really enjoyed his dog and cat siblings and people for who they were. What a lesson for humans (me especially). On our last few visits together Clayton and I watched a movie together. He sat on the couch contentedly with me and it made me happy to spend time with him.

I will miss you Clayton, as I know your family does. I am so glad to have known you little man.

Tabby twins obviously excited about the holidays

Happy Solstice! Eating, playing and sleeping - it's the KittyStar life. Who needs a special holiday? We get "kitty crack" (also known as dehydrated chicken or wild salmon) every day as it is. We can take or leave catnip. We might like organic tatar tots more often...

The tabby twins had guests this week and were not hospitable. They went upstairs into the kitty loft and wouldn't come down. But you can see how relaxed they are around me. We frequently have group hugs while they are in their favorite bed. Typical of many cats, they wash themselves after I kiss them - I don't take it personally. This window spot remains their favorite even after setting up two great beds in chairs by the baseboard heater and adding a thick cushion to the settee.

In honor of requests for more pictures of the KittyStar himself, here's Alexander taking a break. Yes, he's even smiles when he sleeps. Did I mention the curls on his tummy? Someone once said he smells like candy, seriously.

Brother it's cold outside

The boys really noticed the change in the weather, even though they are inside in a heated apartment. They prefer sleeping by the window on a counter, so I added a Snuggle Safe to their bed - it's a microwavable disc filled with paraffin that retained heat for up to 12 hours. It's perfect when you don't want to leave a heating pad plugged in. I think they would like to even eat in their bed!

So I am slightly exploiting these kitties to hold them up as an example of precious little beings who would either cease to exist in our "system", or would go on to perpetuate the cycle of breeding more feral cats if we don't take notice and kindly spay/neuter neighborhood cats and help find suitable homes when appropriate.
